Text Diff Checker

Paste two versions of a text and instantly see what was added (green) and what was removed (red).

Compare by:

The differences will appear here.

How the comparison works

This tool breaks both texts into tokens (words, lines or characters, depending on the mode you pick) and finds the longest common subsequence between them. Anything outside that shared sequence is marked as either an addition (green) or a removal (red), which is the same technique used by most code diff tools.

Compared entirely on your device

The comparison runs directly in your browser as you type — there is no server call and no upload of your content.

Frequently asked questions

What do the colors mean?

Green highlights text that only exists in the second box (additions) and red highlights text that only exists in the first box (removals).

What's the difference between comparing by words, lines or characters?

Word mode is best for prose and catches rephrased sentences; line mode is best for code or lists where whole lines move; character mode shows the smallest possible changes, useful for short strings like URLs or IDs.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. The comparison runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript — nothing is sent to a server.
